It is 2:25am, and I am not tired so I thought I would write some thoughts down. I have been thinking about my trip to California a lot lately (because I miss it so much) so I thought I would share a story with you all (the 1 person who reads this).
One of my favorite things we did in California was going to the beach. In fact, that was the first thing we did. I love the beach but I haven't been there in a really long time, and had wanted to go for quite some time. Driving down the Pacific Coast Highway was an amazing experience. On one side of you there were beautiful mountains with gigantic homes, and on the other side was the marvelous beach.
We pulled over to the side of the road, got out and started to walk on the beach. It just took my breath away. I hate to say it but I was so happy at that moment I almost cried....I finally made it to the beach. As we were walking down the beach I noticed all sorts of seashells, it was awesome! The last time I was at the beach we couldn't find any seashells, but now I had both hands full. Sadly I had to leave some behind, but I made sure to bring a few home. In fact, on our last day there we went back to the beach and I stole some sand so I would always have a piece of California with me.
Another part of the beach I loved was the Santa Monica Pier. When I was a child and we would go to Virginia Beach or was it Martel Beach, I can't remember but I was always afraid to walk on the pier, but I wasn't afraid of this one. Maybe it's because it's bigger or maybe because I am older, but regardless I loved it. We got to the pier as the sun came down and it was just an amazing sight. Standing there staring out into the ocean watching the sun go down as though it was going into the ocean, it just took my breath away. For that 15, 20 minutes we were out there life was at piece. All the stress from home went away, it was just me and the ocean. So anytime I feel stressed or just feel like getting away I whip out my pictures of the ocean and it takes me right to that place and time were life stood still, and the only thing that existed in this great big world was me and the ocean.
