I know it's late but I just wanted to thank all of you who donated to the WQMX Tree of Lights, every little bit helped. Thanks to our awesome listeners we raised $40,000, $10,000 over our initial goal. The money goes towards the Haven of Rest, which is a homeless shelter that doesn't just take in people, they help get them back on their feet.
A man came in with three boys, the oldest was 11. The man had donated the night before, and when his 11 year old son found out he wanted to donate too. One of the dj's asked him on air why he was donating and he said "because he was lucky for everything he has and wanted to help out other people who are not as fortunate as he is." As a tear fell from my eye I realized how lucky I am for everything in my life and I should not take it for granted. I am lucky to have a great family who is there for me no matter what, the best niece and nephew a person could ask for, and some really awesome friends!!!
